Albert Joseph Chavis known to his friends as "A.J" passed away on January 18, 2018 at the age of 81 years.

He was a life-long native of Lake Charles, LA. He spent many years as a truck driver, before retiring as a long shore man.  He enjoyed fishing, travelling, and visiting with family and friends. He was well known among family members and friends for his skills in cooking, specifically barbequing.  Albert Joseph Chavis was a beloved father and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents Willie Mae Albert Cormier and Norris Chavis. He is survived by his children: Michael Chavis of Houston, TX.; Cynthia Victorian of Lake Charles, LA; Morris Chavis of Lake Charles, LA.; Ronnie Gayle (Sylvester) Russell of Dothan, AL., Kelly (Gerald) Semien of Birmingham, AL.; Tina Calhoun of California; Debra (Robert) Wright of Headland, AL., Patricia Coker of San Antonio, TX.; and Angelia Chavis of Houston, TX.; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
