Alfred Jerome Sanchez, Jr. was born in Tampa, Florida on January 8, 1953 to the late Alfred Jerome Sanchez, Sr. and Emma Wilcox Sanchez.

Sanchez was a 1971 graduate of Middleton High School in Tampa, Florida.  He was an outstanding athlete and lettered in varsity football.  He accepted a football scholarship from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1975.  His football career ended as a result of an injury during a game.  Sanchez returned to school to complete his final semester at Southern in May 1976 to earn a B.A. in Physical Education and a minor in Physical Science along with a certification in Biology.

Sanchez's eldest children are Alfred Jerome Sanchez III, son, and Tarnecia Sanchez-Checkley, daughter.  On May 17, 1975, Sanchez married Carolyn Simon.  To this union they have two sons, Mario Sanchez and Adrian Sanchez, and one daughter, Melissa Sanchez.

Alfred Sanchez worked in the Family Juvenile Court System and Louisiana Training Institute for Boys in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He later became a teacher/coach in Calcasieu Parish.  His first teaching/coaching job was at Sam Houston High School.  He worked at the refinery and in the oil field for a few years. He returned to the school system as a teacher/coach at Lake Charles-Boston High School until his retirement.

He leaves special memories to be cherished by his 5 children:

Alfred Sanchez (Alia), Tarnecia Sanchez-Checkley (Anthony), Mario Sanchez (Jennifer), Melissa Sanchez, and Adrian Sanchez. 14 grandchildren:  Lillie, Vince, Adrian, DaMari, and Alonzo Sanchez; Anthony, Tie'rra, and Gabyele' Cleckley; Hailey Sanchez and Morgan LaCour; Omar and Adrian Sanchez; and Marleigh and Marlo Mitchell. He also leaves special memories with his sister, Barbara Sanchez, as well as nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.  Sanchez was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred & Emma Sanchez, Alford Sanchez (brother), James & Merline Simon (father & mother-in-law), Joseph, John, & Andrew Simon (brother-in-laws).
