Obituary

On October 22, 2012, our all wise and knowing father saw fit to call Mrs. Alma Lewis Mcwoodson Reed home. Mrs. Reed was a devoted wife and mother. She was one who put the interest of her family first. She saw to it that her children were given the best that she could provide she gave love, spiritual nourishment, and material comforts. The example she lived day by day has caused her children to be strong and steadfast. For many years Mrs. Reed was a pastor's wife to the late Rev. E. D. Mcwoodson. In later years she remarried the now late Ferdinand Reed. She continued to be who god carved her out to be.

After raising all of her children, Mrs., reed reached out and provided a home for children that did not have a home or parents that could care for them. She then raised these children to adulthood and took care of others until they were adopted into permanent homes. Mrs. Reed was given to hospitality. She fed people all of the time, she aided them in whatever manner they needed if it was in her power. Mrs. Reed was a giver. She would always say, "it won't hurt you to help somebody along the way, you never know when you may need some help yourself" we praise and magnify god for blessing us with such a wonderful mother. Even when Mrs. Reed's health begin to become a challenge she pressed through those difficult times continuing to run a tight ship. She kept up with us and with everything that went with motherhood and being a wife. She pushed her needs out of the way and made sure her house was taken care of. She truly was a precious jewel! She helped her children with homework, she played jacks, marbles, she played ball in the street with them! She took us to church and she taught us to pray by example.
