Alverda Henny Jenkins was born on October 3, 1916 to Celestine Vejia Henny and Edward Henny in Mallet, LA. On September 16, 1934 she met and married Cyrus Jenkins, Sr. To this union five daughters and five sons were born. They took residence in Lake Charles, LA in 1941. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a heavenly spirit and love for everyone. When she couldn''t cook any longer, she still had her menus planned and wanted to insure there was enough for everyone who might drop by.

She always found the good in people and had kind words for everyone that would listen. She loved the Lord and would faithfully recite her rosary three or more times a day. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a former member of the KPC Ladies Auxillary and a lifetime member of the Altar Society.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three daughters; Celestine, and Liesta Jenkins and Margie Evans; three sons; Lawrence, James and Fredrick Jenkins; five brothers Allen, Alvin, Howard, Milton and Leo Henny; two sisters Thelma Patterson and Rose Briscoe.

She leaves to cherish many wonderful memories two daughters; Charlotte Jenkins of Lake Charles, LA and Theresa Diana (Dewey) Griffin of Houston, TX; two sons Cyrus (Earnie) Jenkins, Jr. of Vallejo, CA and John (Susie) Jenkins of Lake Charles, LA.; two daughter-in-laws Laura Jenkins of Lake Charles, LA and Mildred Jenkins of Beaumont, TX; one brother Paul Henny of Lake Charles, LA; one sister Earline Bellard of Lawtell, LA; twenty-five grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and adult children she took in as her own.

Service date: June 21, 2013

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home. Visitation is from 8 to 10:45 am Friday, June 21, in Combre Funeral Home.
