Andrea Reina Thomas passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 surround by her family. She was 53 years of age.

Andrea was born on December 26, 1967 to Paul and Mary Jane (Malveaux) Thomas in Lake Charles, LA. She was the only girl among her five brothers.

Andrea loved being with family, especially her parents, her son, Michael and daughter, Derricka; her brothers, and the love of her life her fur baby, Chance, who she fiercely protected. In her spare time she was an avid reader and could always be found with a novel in her hand. She also  enjoyed cheering for her New Orleans Saints when game time rolled around.

She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, attending the 4:30 p.m. Saturday Mass with her mother. She worked for her church parish every year for the annual bazaar, coming to the kitchen at 4:00 A.M. to help prepare the well-known barbecue dinners, and not leaving until 6:00 P.M. on the Saturday and Sunday of the two-day festival.

Andrea was employed by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, working at the Allen P. August Community Center as an Administrative Specialist, a position she held until her health began to fail.

Andrea was preceded in death by her father, Paul Thomas, Sr.; her toddler brother, Gary; her paternal grandparents, Louis and Alverda Simien Hayes; her maternal grandparents, Lucius and Alice Malveaux; and her grandson, Michael Thomas, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Latisha) Thomas; daughter, Derricka (Constance) Thomas; mother, Mary Jane Malveaux Thomas; brothers, Paul (Tonya) Thomas, Jr.; Mark Thomas and Patrick (Rene) Thomas, all of Lake Charles; Jerome Thomas (Alicia) of Dallas, Texas; special sister, Brenda Fontenot; her fur baby, Chance and grand fur baby, Duke; her grand-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, classmates and friends.
