Obituary

Anna Belle (Dutch) Bazile was born on January 4, 1920 to the late William and Virginia Jefferson in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  She was educated through the Calcasieu Parish Public School system where she excelled academically.  Anna Belle (Dutch) loved the Lord and began her Christian walk at an early age.  She was baptized at Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. N. P. Jones and continued her spiritual growth under Pastors Jimmy Stevens and Alvin Brass.  She participated in the Nickel-A-Day Club, Mission Ministry, and the Sunday School Ministry, which was one of her greatest joys.

On April 13, 1943, Anna Belle (Dutch) united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Edmond Bazile, and became a military wife.  They shared 31 years of happiness until his death in 1974.  This union was blessed with five adorable daughters: Betty, Jo Ann, Pamela, Sheila and Cheryl Erline.  As an army wife, Anna Belle (Dutch) lived in Blackstone, Virginia and New Orleans, Louisiana.  Following the military years, the family relocated to Altus, Oklahoma. There she was an active member of the community as well as Macedonia Baptist Church. She attended many social events there, including those sponsored by the Satin Set Club, an organization of which she was a participating member.  Upon Edmond's death, Anna Belle (Dutch) returned to Lake Charles where she cared for her father and continued to enjoy an enriched and fulfilling life.

At the age of 90, she relocated to Houston, Texas, where she continued an enhanced quality of life with her family.  Although she was a life-long member of Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lake Charles, upon relocating to Houston, she affiliated with New Faith Church locally.  There, she enjoyed participation in the Women's Jewel Ministry until her health failed.

While living in Houston, Anna Belle (Dutch) continued to learn, grow and evolve.  She was a season ticket holder for the Houston Ensemble Theater and attended many plays.  She went on trips to the rodeo, zoo, concerts and cultural events in the community.  Anna was an avid New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans fan.  Favorites in her life included eating chocolates and viewing the Wheel of Fortune TV show.  As the end of each year would wind down, she cherished family gatherings for the holiday seasons.

Anna Belle (Dutch) was ushered into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Park Manor Quail Valley Nursing Facility in Missouri City, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Jack Jefferson and Irma Augustus, daughter Jo Ann Heard, grandson Jeremy Ward and great-granddaughter Ashley O'Neal.  She leaves to cherish many fond memories her devoted children: Betty (Edmond) Williams, Missouri City, TX, Pamela (Jerry) Glover, Martinez, GA, Sheila (Kerry) Charles, Lake Charles, LA, Cheryl Erline (Willie) Harris, Missouri City, TX, and son-in-law, Jake Heard, Tulsa, OK; 8 grandchildren – Kimberly (Gus) Plummer, Missouri City, TX, Gregory Glover, Greenville, SC, Darrell (Ingar) O'Neal, Rosharon, TX, Michael (Crystal) Heard, Edmond, OK, Sonya (Keith)  Myrick, Flanders, NJ, LaToya Harris, Fresno, TX, Jayson Heard, Houston, TX, and Lesa (Jesse) James, Monroe, LA; 16 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and friend whose devotion was unyielding.  She blessed all who knew her with an abundance of love, wit and compassion.  A devoted Christian woman who loved the Lord, she will forever be a ray of sunshine and an inspiration for all who knew her.
