Annie departed this life on April 14, 2019 at 6: 15 p.m. She is the daughter of the late Emile and Beulah
Westley of Franklin, LA where she was born, raised and attended school. She was the third eldest of eight siblings. She graduated from St. Mary Parish Training School (Franklin Negro High School). She volunteered as a tutor, working specifically at Cherry St. Elementary School, presently named Clifton Elementary. She was employed by NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) until October of 2018.
Annie Westley married the late James King Jr. in October of 1950 and made their home in Lake Charles, LA. To this union four children were born, Eugene, Tracey, Andrea Renee, and Cynthia. They were married for 53 years before her husband preceded her in death.
Annie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was baptized in Bayou Teche in Franklin, LA by Rev. Octave Vincent of Triumph Baptist Church. Upon relocating to Lake Charles with her family, in 1955 she united with Rock Street Baptist Church, which is now, Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. As a member, she served in many departments: the Young Matrons, secretary for the W.M.U., Youth Director, Sunday school teacher for ages 7, 8, and 9, secretary for Vacation Bible School, Deaconess, and active member of Sunday School Class NO.2.
