Barbara Ann Coleman was born on April 15, 1939 to late Hollin and Laura Coleman in Vinton Louisiana. At an early age she gave her life to Christ at St. James Baptist under the leadership of Rev. M. M. Cuby.
She graduated from Mossville High School there proceeded to and graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. Where she met William Starring JR They later married and to this union were born three children Stephanie, Stephen, and Royce.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hollin and Laura Coleman, her siblings Horis Coleman, Doris Coleman, David Coleman, and a great granddaughter Kameryn Bias.
Barbara started working at Delta Downs on 1974 when it first opened then moved on to Harrah''s where she retired in 2004. She then became employed at the Calcasieu Parish School Board.
Barbara had a multitude of friends. She loved making people laugh and helping all who needed it. She enjoyed traveling, garage sales, volunteering as a Pink Lady at Lake Area Medical Center. She also enjoyed children on the school bus where she worked as an aid until her passing.
Barbara had many antics that everyone will remember her by. For those who knew her best knew that when nothing else could be said she would raise her hands and say "Jesus, Joseph, and Mary". She would always tell her sister Jean " if you weren''t my sister I would kill you" Every morning before leaving for work she would say" Good Morning Blue". Barbara is also is also known for her wonderful sense of humor.
She leaves to mourn her children and her siblings James Coleman, Phremo (Jack) Coleman, Donald (Pee Wee) Coleman (Precious), Annie Mae Provost, and Jean Taylor (Nathan). She also leaves her grandchildren Selena Bias (Darrel), Joseph Hardy, Diman, Damon, Tara, Breanye, and Lauryn Starring. She had three great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Barbara touched the lives of all that she met as a memory to her reach out to others even if it''s a smile to brighten their day.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Service date: April 22, 2016
Visitation will be Friday, April 22, 2016 from 9am to 1pm in St. James Baptist Church in Vinton, La. Funeral services will be Friday, April 22, 2016 at 1pm at St. James Baptist Church in Vinton, La. Burial will be in Benevolent Cemetery in Vinton, LA.
