Obituary

Bernice Green Edwards, 92, peacefully departed from her earthly home on Thursday, December 27, 2018 and joined her Lord and Savior in eternal rest.

Bernice was born September 4, 1926 in Ville Platte, Louisiana and was the third of seven children to the union of Abrah and Evelyn Green.

She was united in holy matrimony on November 4, 1943 to the love of her life, the late Freall Edwards. They remained married for fifty-five years, and were blessed with five children.

The family lived in Longville, Louisiana for several years before moving to Lake Charles, Louisiana in 1953. She
accepted Christ at an early age in her life. She had an unwavering faith in God and became a lifelong member of Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church under the pastoral ship of Reverend N.P. Jones and the Reverend Dr. Jimmy Stevens, and presently under the pastoral ship of Reverend Alvin Brass. She was a member of the Usher Board, Deaconess Board, past vice president of the Deaconess Board and Mission Sister for many years, also a dedicated chair lady of the
Baptism Committee. She was an active, faithful and committed servant until her health declined.

Bernice leaves a legacy as a matriarch to her family, friends, and her community. She will be remembered as a kind, loving, giving, and prayerful woman. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Bernice was the Queen of baking tea cakes and sweet potato pies. She cared for and loved the presence of beautiful plants and flowers around her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Freall Edwards, two sons, Agis and Tillman Edwards; one daughter, Lou Bertha Beleziare; and one grandson, Justin Edwards.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Joel (Brenda) Edwards and Joey (Kathy) Edwards both of Decatur, Georgia; one brother, Guffie (Indiana) Green of Ville Platte, Louisiana; and one sister, Nellie Guillory of Eunice, Louisiana; one son-in-law, Warren Beleziare of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her loving caregiver, Lena Edwards; her long time friends, Thelma James, Mary Snipes, Dorothy Green, and Laura Thomas. She was an endearing grandmother of twenty-three grandchildren, forty great grandchildren; and twenty-one great, great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
