Life Reflections
At 80, Bertha Ann Sweet, entered into Heaven's gates on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at 11:30 p.m., surrounded by her loved ones. Bertha was born on March 13, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late John Joseph White and Jeanne Clement White.
She was a long time member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and served on the Altar and Rosary Society along with the Senior Citizens Group. She was a member of the Red Hatters organization. Bertha was also an active member of the Zeta Amicae of Lake Charles auxiliary group for 40 years. She graduated from W.O. Boston High School in the Class of 1959. At W.O Boston, Bertha was a cheerleader throughout her school years. She received an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development in Atlanta, GA., and served as the director at Kitty's Little Den Class A Day Care in Lake Charles, Louisiana, for 20 years. Bertha was the Director for five years at The Little School House in Lake Charles. She was previously employed as an Nurse's Assistant in Labor and Delivery at St. Patrick Hospital.
Bertha married Lawrence Sweet on April 20th in 1970, their marriage has prospered for 51 years. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother to many. She enjoyed shopping for purses and shoes and her favorite place to visit was Pryce Miller Center. At the center she loved to line dance, ride stationary bikes, play bean bag, and converse with friends.
She was preceded in death by her sisters; Dorothy Jean White and Alice Marie Beverly, and brothers; John Joseph White and Thomas King White.
Bertha Ann Sweet will be missed by many but her memory and legacy will live on through her loving husband, Lawrence E. Sweet, daughters Rhonda J. Rubin (Sampson) and Deneen P. Sweet (Roderick), and son, Lawrence R. Sweet (Stacey). Her siblings, Charles White (Deborah), & Linda White and sister-in-law Christiana White. Her grandchildren, Percy L. Vital (Lynn), Lawryn Sweet, Hannah Rubin, Riley Jacobs, and Landyn C. Stafford. Great grandchildren, Ezra, Dash, Royal, and Nuri, godchildren Jeannie White Seymour, Camille Fox, Margan Carrier and Jarmal Druileht along with her nieces, nephews, and friends
