In obedience to the Lord''s command an Angel descended from heaven and arrived in Lake Charles, Louisiana on July 19, 1952 and blessed Jesse Dixon, Sr. and Alberta Barker Dixon with a daughter they named Betty Jean Dixon. Betty was a kind and caring child who accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Old Emmanuel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. N. P. Jones.

She received her early education at Washington High School where she graduated in 1969. She enrolled in McNeese State University and pursued a major in English Education with a minor in Library Science. She received a B.A. Degree in 1973 and a M. Ed. in 1977. She was employed by Calcasieu Parish School System where she retired in 2012 after thirty-nine years of service. She spent thirty-seven of those years at LaGrange Senior High School where she taught English and later served as school librarian. She was known for her quick wit and her no nonsense demeanor in the classroom.

Sis. Betty Easton was a faithful, dedicated, and devoted servant of God. She always had a kind word for all with whom she had contact. She loved people and she loved helping people. She spent many hours checking on the well-being of church members and those she knew. She always had enough to give those in need. With Sis. Easton "Little was Much in the Master''s Hands". Her service to Old Emmanuel included but was not limited to President of the Women''s Missionary Society, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Financial Secretary, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and Kitchen Helper. There was a special place in Sis. Easton''s heart for the Pastor, Dr. M. C. Guillory and First Lady, Sis. Hilda Guillory. She served Calcasieu District as General Secretary.

Sis. Easton married the love of her life, Bro. Willie Easton. They were married for forty-one years. To this union five children were born. She loved her children and grandchildren. She had special affection for her grandson, Traylon, because of his health concerns.

Sis. Easton enjoyed reading, sewing, public speaking, shopping, and helping people. She was a second mom to countless young people.

She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and Sisters Surviving Cancer.

On April 6, 2015 Sis. Easton Departed this life at a local Hospital with family and friends by her side. She is preceded in death by her father, Jesse Dixon, Sr.; brother, Robert Dixon; grandfather, Hilliard and grand-mother Mahalia Dixon.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Willie Easton Sr.; sons, Willie Easton, III of Lake Charles; Patrick Easton and Robert Easton of Houston, Texas; two daughters Veronica Easton of Houston, Texas and Racheal Easton of Lake Charles; stepdaughter, Emily Joyce DeVille of Denver, Colorado; Mother, Alberta Dixon of Lake Charles; brother, Jesse Dixon, Jr. of Vacaville, California; grandchildren Brittani Easton, Traylon Easton, and Jamiree Mathis of Jonesboro, Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
