Betty Lou Collins was born February 2, 1955 in Lake Charles, LA to Murphy and Elnora Roberson Collins.  She graduated from Lake Charles Boston High School and attended Xavier University in New Orleans, LA.

After college, she moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she met Mr. Angulet Joe Funches and moved to Walla Walla, WA.  The two were married in Houston, TX and from this union they had two daughters, Angela M. Thomas and Kimberly A. Funches.

In both Houston, and later in Lake Charles, she worked as a paralegal/legal secretary.  She enjoyed assisting those that were experiencing personal conflict and did her best to provide a listening ear and sound advice.

She loved to sing and was frequently appointed to choir director in her various church homes.  She also loved a good cross-sums puzzle and computer card game.  You could find her dancing at any given time and she was frequently known as the life of the party.  She had a vibrant spirit that was much larger than her physical stature even unto death.

Betty Collins Funches entered into eternal rest on January 5, 2021.

She leaves behind two daughters, Angela (Lionel) Thomas and Kimberly A. Funches both of Opelousas, LA; two sisters, Annie Ruth Bryant and Mary Annette (Lee) Citizen both of Lake Charles, LA; two brothers, Terry (Fay) Collins of Gautier, MS and Gerald (Brenda) Collins of Pensacola, FL; three grandchildren, Lilah, Laila, and Laelon Thomas of Opelousas, LA; Godmother, Charcey Cormier of Lake Charles, LA; three God-children, Barbara Ann Hall of Dayton, Ohio, Dedric Collins of Lake Charles, LA, and Brian McCoy of Dallas, TX; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Willie Collins; and an infant son, Terrance Collins.
