MOSS BLUFF—Bonny Mott Simon, 65, was called to eternal rest at his residence on Sunday, August 19, 2012.
He was born on April 2, 1947 to Lillian Macy Simon in Moss Bluff, La. Bonny accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church for most of his life, where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School, attending bible study, and singing in the choir. He late joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a active member since November 2008. Bonny's hobbies were music, sports, and reading. He was a 1966 graduate of Washington High School. After high school he attended Grambling State University for 2 years, majoring in history. He was an employee of Enterprise Transportation in Lake Charles for 38 years, as a Leadman Paint Cleaning Technician, where he was highly recognized for his service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert(Lillian Macy Simon) Joseph Sr.; brother, Robert W. Joseph Jr.; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mott(Beulah Hawkins) Simon; aunt, Irma Simon Harris; and special cousin and best friend, John Hawkins Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his only surviving child, son Martin James Simon of Lake Charles, La.; Stepdaughter, Shontell(Carlos) Foster of DeRidder, La.; two stepgrandsons, Amenhotep and Kahled Foster, both of DeRidder, La.; former wife, Judy Guillory Simon of Lake Charles, La.; two aunts, Mrs. Clemmye(Bill) Simon Crawford of Tuscaloosa, Al., and Mrs. Justine Simon Sutphen of Oxford, Ga.; special cousin and devoted friend Larry Hawkins, Mrs Geneva(Jethro) Hawkins Robinson and family, Cynthia Bilbo Simpson, and Mrs. Eddie Marie Lee Hawkins and family; special brotherin-law Shelton Guillory; and special sister-in-law, Mrs. Eula Guillory Hanchett all of Lake Charles, La.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, co-workers and friends.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Elmore Garner will officiate. Final resting place will be in West Fork Cemetery in Moss Bluff under the direction of Combre Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9 a.m Saturday in the church.
