On March 31, 2020, Brenda McCoy Taylor departed this life at the age of 66. She transitioned peacefully to be with the Lord at her residence in Lake Charles, La. She was born Nov. 29, 1953, to Elsie McCoy and her God-given father Lewis Gray in Lake Charles, La. She was the third child of 3 children. Brenda graduated from W.O. Boston High School in 1971. She was a long-time member of New Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Brenda worked at the Calcasieu Marine National Bank as a proof operator in Lake Charles, La., in her younger years as an adult. She also worked as a housekeeping supervisor at Chateau Charles Hotel. In her recent years, she worked at Holiday Inn as a housekeeping supervisor for 5 years.

Brenda loved to pay visits to her children to sit and chat with them, while spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She also enjoyed watching Lifetime movies at home, attending holiday events, and spending time with her friends.  We could always count on her to be a listening ear if we needed someone to talk to.

Cherishing Brenda's memories are her daughters of Lake Charles, La., Kimberly Guillory and her husband Jenarold Guillory, Stacey Melanson and her fiancé Dwayne George, Tiffany Leger and her husband Leon Leger; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; her sister, Wanda Broussard; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Brenda was preceded in death by her late husband, John Taylor; her mother, Elsie McCoy; and her sister, Margaret Doucette.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
