Obituary

Callixtus "Coogie" Anthony Simon, 56, departed this earth, giving birth to his soul, on March 16, 2019. He was born on June 22, 1962 in Houston, Texas to Bertha  (Pipion) Simon and Lloyd Anthony Simon. Moving to Lake Charles at age 3, he attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and was a proud graduate of the 1980 class of Washington High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served from June of 1980 to December, 1981. He served proudly and was discharged, being classified as a 100% service connected disabled veteran. He was a proud recipient of
the Voice of Democracy by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. Award for being an "outstanding spokesman for dynamic citizenship in V.F. W." He was a kind and generous person, often giving to others to his own detriment.

Callixtus is survived by his loving mother and constant companion and caretaker, Bertha Simon Johnwell; two sisters, Carmelita Payte (Lake Charles, LA), and Dr. Cassandra Simon (Carl Frank) of Tuscaloosa, AL; and one brother, Carl Simon (Jackie Schaefer) of St. Paul, MN. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Simon, Sr., and two brothers, Lloyd Simon, Jr. and Craig Simon.
