On October 13, 1939, a baby boy was born to Clarence and Maggie Lee Owens, whom they named Carl Owens.

Carl graduated from T. L. Pink High School in Glen Flora, Texas. He attended Wiley College after high school. He accepted Christ at an early age in Spanish Camp, Texas under the leadership of Pastor B. Benford. He was an active member of Mount Olive Baptist Church until his health began to fail him.

Carl was a certified welder for some years. He worked as a technician for Amoco Pipeline from 1972 to October, 1994. He also worked for L''Auberge Hotel and Casino as well as a crossing guard for Calcasieu Parish Sheriff''s Office.

Carl met and fell in love with Audrey Reed and they were joined in holy matrimony on August 3, 1996.

He will forever be remembered by his loving wife Audrey Joubert Owens; three daughters Vanessa Owens and Lorenza Owens both of Alvin, Texas, and Kathy Boudain of Atlanta, Georgia; three sons Gerald Owens, Stephen Owens and Carl Jr, (Nicole) Owens all of Alvin, Texas; Michelle Joubert of Dallas, Texas; Willis (Erica) Reed and Tyrone (Kayla) Miller both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; three sisters Creasie Owens (Carl) of Texas City, Texas; Emma (Robert) Thornton of Alvin, Texas, and Margaret (Thurman) Black of Spanish Camp, Texas; two brothers Clarence Owens, Jr of Spanish Camp, Texas and Ardley Owens of Alvin, Texas; fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Clarence Owens and mother Maggie Lee Owens.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Service date: July 11, 2015

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, in Mount Olive Baptist Church. The Rev. Braylon Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9 a.m. Saturday in the church.
