At the age of 96, Cecelia Peete Blanchard was called home on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.  She will lovingly be remembered for her devotion to her family and her faith.  Mrs. Blanchard was born on April 27, 1924 as the only child to Weldon C. Peete and Lena Charlott. Cecelia was raised in Mallet, Louisiana. As a teenager she moved to Beaumont, Texas.  Cecelia and her husband, Austin Blanchard of made Lake Charles their home for 53 years.  She lived in Lake Charles until she was called home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Cecelia worked as a Nurse's Aide for Christus St. Patrick Hospital for over 25 years.

She leaves to honor her memory two sister–n-laws; Theresa Blanchard and Patsy Raggett, three daughters: Patricia (Thomas) Lewis of Fayetteville, Georgia, Drucilla (Ronald Lee) Mayo, and Catherine Paddio of Lake Charles; two sons: Ronald (Peggy) Blanchard and Donald (Dinah Lee) Blanchard of Lake Charles; eleven grandchildren: Eunice Mayo, Lena (Damien) Mayo-Morris, Ashley Lewis, Malisa Lewis, Ron (Cassandra) Blanchard, Deanne (Ryan) Blanchard-Zachery, Damico (Tamika) Bartley, Dru Allen Blanchard, Dawn (Harold) Blanchard, -Robinson, Marvin Paddio and James Paddio; twelve great-grandchildren; Ava Henry, Joshua Bartley, Nolan Bartley Natalie Bartley, Derron Morris, Lucas Morris, Jordan Blanchard, Levi Robinson, Rayleigh Blanchard, Parker Zachery, Sadie Zachery and Ryan Zachery; godchildren Margaret Carrier and Mary "Maggie" Magdalene Alexander, and a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews, and loved ones. Mrs. Blanchard was a member of the St. Rita Court # 31 Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years.  She was also dedicated parishioner at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lake Charles where she served in the Senior Choir. She loved listening and dancing to zydeco music with her friends and family and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Cecelia Blanchard is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, her parents; her brother, Paul Raggett, her daughter, Yolanda Cecelia Blanchard; her granddaughter, Doris Cecile Blanchard; her great-grandson; Logan Mayo and her god-child Kevin Blanchard.

Cecelia Peete Blanchard will be sadly missed by all  who loved her dearly.
