Obituary

Charles Bernard Clement was born January 5, 1931, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the union of Gertrude Williams and Bernard Clement. Charles was born in the middle of his four brothers, Matthew, Fred, Thomas, and Sidney.

The entirety of his childhood was spent in Lake Charles. Brother Clement later became an active member of Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was a member of the seniors' group at Zion, helped mentor younger members and donated to the youth ministry. Brother Charles followed Hebrews 13:16 which states, "Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God". Brother Clement often shared his time, experience, and knowledge with all of those around him.

Charles Bernard Clement entered holy matrimony on April 10, 1955, to Lois Clement. To this union two sons were born, Gregory and Ronald.

Brother Clement was a graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic School. Soon after, he joined the United States Army where he was part of Company F, 2nd Battalion 11th    Armored Calvary Division Regiment where he and his squadron operated M47 tanks. After being honorably discharged in 1960, he later started his career with Olin Corporation where he was a maintenance specialist for over 15 years.

Brother Clement was known for working with his hands, fixing things, and helping others. He often spent time working around his home, and garden, and helping his neighbors. He would keep up with everyone by seeing to their well-being. He and his sons would help deliver his wife's dinners to the sick and shut-ins.

Charles is survived by his grandson, Christopher Clement of Houston, Texas (Alexandra); two nieces, Pamela Clement, and Patricia Clement Cormier both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Gloria Clement, and Ava Cormier both of Lake Charles, Louisiana. He leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; two sons, Ronald, and Gregory; and his four brothers, Matthew, Fred, Thomas, and Sidney.
