Obituary

Clarence Pierre August, of Lake Charles, LA, joined our Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 14 th at the age of 86.

Clarence was born on August 13, 1934 as the 2 nd child to Sterling (Deuce) and Lena August in Ville Platte, LA. As a teenager, Clarence and his 7 siblings moved to Lake Charles, LA where they would all grow up and raise their families. Clarence worked construction most of his life and was also apart of the Local 207 Union. He retired in 1999 and enjoyed his retirement with his wife and grandchildren while napping in the breeze on his front porch.

Clarence met his loving and devoted wife, LouAnna when the family moved into Lake Charles and they became neighbors. Once LouAnna graduated from High School, the courtship began and so did the love. They married and went on to have three children, Roderick, Debbie (Joseph) and Todd (Tuwanna). All of the children also raised their families in Lake Charles, making it easy for their parents to be an important part in their children's lives.

Clarence was an honest and loving man, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. He was a hardworking man, known for driving a forklift like no other.

Clarence loved spending time with his family, but really looked forward to catching up with his brothers Sterling Jr. and Warren on the weekends.

Clarence was passionate about his faith and was a founding member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. A devout Catholic, he believed in praying his rosary daily and was one of the first to serve as a Eucharist Minister. There were countless times that He and LouAnna were entrusted to monitor church activity before their Saturday mass began. (Since they were there 2 hours early every time) "Papaw, why do you go to church so early? So I can have time to pray for y'all"

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Sterling and Lena August, brother's Lawrence, Atlin "Grim" and Allen August and sister, Diane Simon. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, LouAnna August, son's Roderick and Todd (Tuwanna) August and daughter Debbie (Joseph) LaFleur, grandchildren LaTasha (Marvin) Chavis, Angelica Holloway, Alexandria August, Tyler August, Jared LaFleur and Tori August, great grandchildren Kaden Chavis, Kaitlyn Winters, Kylah Chavis, Micah Chavis, Amari August, Sariah Aaron and Keima Chavis,  siblings Sterling August Jr., Warren August and Shirley Robertson.
