April 10, 2020 Clarence "C.L." Guidry was called home to be with the Lord.
Clarence "C.L." Guidry son of Allen and Mary Malbrough Guidry was born September 13, 1946 in Lake Charles, LA. He was the fifth of six children. He attended and graduated from Washington High School. He was a talent basketball athlete. After high school he joined the US Marine Core and served in Vietnam. At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ at Greater Live Oak Baptist Church being a lifetime member of 73 years. C.L served as a Deacon and choir member and soloist. He was married to Donna Fowler Guidry for twenty-four years until his untimely death.
Clarence retired from Entergy, formerly Gulf States Utilities, after over 40 years employment. He was an avid sports fan loving the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Cowboys and eventually New Orleans Saints. After retirement he developed a love for Ward Three Recreation. He was a daily participant in senior activities to include the Senior Olympics. He will always be known for his smile an infectious laugh.
Clarence leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Donna Guidry, daughters Wenona Mae (Caldwell) Fontenot, Selena (Kevin) Heckard of Iowa, LA, , LA, Shelia Johnson Avent of Baltimore, MD , Donya Standberry (Franco Smith) Brooks of Houston, TX and DaShanti Standberry of Opelousas, LA, son Carlton Guidry of Lake Charles; sister Devine Green of Lake Charles, LA; brothers Alton (Rose) Guidry, Sr. of Lake Charles, LA and Ray (Angela) Guidry of Gardenia, CA; grandchildren Carrington Guidry of Dallas, TX, Bailey Fontenot and Brady Fontenot, Linsey Gomes, Jasmyn West all of Iowa, LA, Kylee Guidry of Anchorage, AK, Donavon Standberry of Houston, TX, Gregory (Janny) Brooks of Satellite Beach, FL, Donathian Standberry, LA, Amerial Guidry and Eyan Standberry all of Opelousas, LA; god-daughters Kayla Guidry of Lake Charles, LA and Carrie Mason of California and a host of family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gerald L. Guidry and Fred A. Guidry
