IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clemus Guillory
Perkins
January 24, 1924 – November 15, 2021
I have fought a good fight. I have finished the race;
I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7
Clemus Guillory Perkins was born January 24, 1924 in Basile, Louisiana, to the union of Edmond Guillory Sr., and Laurentine Thierry Guillory. She departed her earthly life on November 15, 2021 at the age of 97.
Clemus met and married the love of her life, William J. Perkins Sr., while he was working in Basile. On June 21, 1942 they became one, built a life together, and remained married for over 47 years until the death of "Bill" Perkins in July 1989. From this union seven children were born: Laura, William Jr., Katherine, Brenda, Jerry, Marlene and Darlene. Clemus and William also raised their nephew, Reverend Adam Stevens.
Clemus was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great grandmother who was known in the neighborhood as a great baker. Everyone loved her freshly baked bread and delicious pound cakes and would always ask her to bake some for them. She enjoyed cooking for and feeding everyone! She enjoyed telling and listening to jokes and always had one ready for you. In her later years, everyone who knew Clemus knew how much she loved playing cards. Her favorites were Spades, Gin Rummy, and Pitty-Pat and she would play as long as she could get you to play.
She was a charter and faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Member. Clemus was a member of the Christian Mothers, the Legion of Mary, and worked at the parish bazaar for many years. She also belonged to one rosary group that met on Mondays for decades in each other's homes and another rosary group named the Community Rosary Group. Clemus was an active member of the Spiritual Rock Group of St. Henry's Catholic Church.
Clemus was welcomed to her permanent home by her many ancestors, her parents, her loving husband, her siblings: Preston Guillory, Adeline Guillory, Matney Guillory, Curley Guillory, Mathilda Hollier, Fred Guillory, Edmonia Pero, Edmond Guillory Jr., Prosper Guillory, and Lincoln Guillory, and her sweet daughter, Kathy.
She is survived by her children Laura (Lincoln) Richardson, William "Bill" (Angela) Perkins Jr., Brenda Perkins, Jerry (Annette) Perkins, Marlene Allen, Darlene (Wallace) Howard, and nephew, Adam (Pearl) Stevens. Her grandchildren: Lincoln Richardson Jr., Laurence Richardson, Leah Richardson Francis, Lori Richardson, Trinetti Jones Burns, Stephanie Perkins, Jason Perkins, Joy Booker Watt, Ali Perkins, Jerry Perkins Jr., Janel Perkins, Andre Perkins, Rachell Perkins King, Victoria Allen, Kia Allen, Moses Allen, Nikki Mouton, Patrick Mouton, Jr., and Haile Moses. She is also survived by thirty-one great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Always one to attract people of all ages to her with her humor and wit, Clemus leaves a legacy of that humor, wit, and her beautiful smile that always greeted and blessed others. She lived a very loving and fulfilled life and finished the race she began over 97 years ago.
