Daniel Mouton, 83 of Lake Charles, passed away on August 31 in San Antonio Texas.
He was a graduate of Washington High School, Southern University. He was on his way to the 1960 Olympic trials before a knee injury which led him to the Peace Corp. Mr. Mouton was a fast runner earning him the nickname Rabbit. He was inducted into the Southern University Sports Hall of Fame. In addition, he retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board having coached at Washington High School, S P Arnett and Sulphur High School, and also retired from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department. He was born on June 21, 1937 in Welsh Louisiana.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son Patrick Daniel Mouton, a daughter-in-law LaTosha Mouton, two grandchildren Soleigha Mouton and Noah Daniel Mouton, sisters, Darlene Snipe and Velita Sellers of Memphis, TN brothers Phillip Snipe of Hahnville, GA, Edward Snipe of Memphis, TN, Calvin Snipe of Detroit, MI, sister-in-laws Jackie and Frances Reedom and Elizabeth Harris of New Iberia, brother-in-laws, George Reedom of San Antonio, Tx, John Reedom, Artis Harris, Sr and Larry White, Sr. of New Iberia, special cousins, Daniel Pierre, Jr. Mary Ann Pierre, Joanne Pierre, and Dianne Pierre and Lillian Norton.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Margaret Mouton, his daughter Myra Denise Mouton, his mother Evelyn Pierre Snipe, his father Ollie Mouton, a brother Willie Snipe, Grandparents Victoria Garrett Pierre and Homer Pierre, uncle Daniel Pierre, Sr and Aunt Mary Pierre.
