Mrs. Dorothy L. Hill died Sept. 4, 2014, in a local care center.
Mrs. Hill was born Sept. 20, 1925, in Natchez, Miss., to the union of the late Henry L. Hornsby and Beatrice Dennis Hornsby. Sister Hill was a true believer for Christ, the Son of God, and while growing up was a member of Warren Chapel Methodist Church of Lake Charles, La. Graduated from Charlston Pollard High School of Beaumont, Texas. Graduated from Business College of New Orleans, La., where she continued her career as a dietician of 30 years at New Orleans Charity Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Eleanor Polk and Shirley Duhon; and her brother, Henry Hornsby Jr.; three grandchildren, Samuel L. Hill Sr., Toran M. Spencer and Alana Hill; and husbands, Thorton Hill and Willie Bowser Jr.
Survivors include her two children, Paul L. (Donna) Robertson Sr. and Tanya L. Bowser Spencer, both of Lake Charles; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Service date: Sept. 13, 2014
Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Funeral will start at noon in New Light Baptist Church. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park, under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
