Dorothy Carter
Malbroux
May 28, 1931 – September 22, 2025
I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Psalm 84:10b KJV
On May 28, 1931, in the city of Church Point, LA, a life was brought into existence. That life came in the person of Dorothy Carter, born to the parentage of Norris Carter and Mary Mathilda Mayfield Carter. Dorothy was the last of eight siblings.
Dorothy accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. The late Reverend J. J. Wilson baptized her at the Sunrise Baptist Church in Bristol, LA. She retired from Christus St. Patrick Hospital after more than 35 years and volunteered her services as a grandparent at Oak Park Elementary School. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Family time was very special to her.
In 1940, she joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor D. J. Jones. She served as an usher faithfully. She also served as an usher under the late Reverend Horace Allison. She later joined the Messiah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert L. Owens, where she continued to serve faithfully and untiringly as an usher. Sis. Malbroux was a member of the Senior Usher Board and was active with the City-Wide Ushers.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Norris and Mary Carter; sisters, Anna Carter and Amelia Jason; brothers, Alfred, Delton, Abron, JB, and John Carter; daughter, Geneva Wilson; sons, Herman Wilson and Roosevelt Wilson; grandchildren, Love Martin, Jr. and great-granddaughter, Danielle Leviege.
Those who must continue her legacy are Betty White of Goodlettsville, TN, O.D. Wilson, Jr. of Lake Charles, LA, Sandra (Maurice) Jones of Lake Charles, LA, and Jacqueline (Clifton) Guillory of Arlington, TX; six grandchildren, Dwayne Leviege, Trevlyn Haddox, Takiesha Manuel, Dorothy Kirk, Shawn Pruitt, Jr., and Phillip Jones. Eleven great-grand-children, Taylor Hayes, Brianna Hayes, Tyresha Rideaux, Zachary Leviege, Dominique Leviege, Cameron Kirk, Autumn Haddox, Carter Kirk, Aiden Pruitt, Keilani Jones and Zariah Jones; godchildren Anna Mae Bernard of Atlanta, Georgia and James Atkins of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
