Dorothy Miller Rougeau, 81, entered her heavenly home at 10:____a.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at her home with loved ones by her side. She was born June 5, 1935 to Reverend Hershey and Emma (Dugas) Miller in Iowa Louisiana. After marriage Dorothy resided in Chloe Louisiana most of her life.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, and was baptized at the Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful and dedicated member under the leadership of Reverend Herman Weston Sr.
On April 7, 1952 Dorothy was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Melvin Rougeau and to this union eight children were born.
Dorothy was a stay at home wife and mother until all her children where older. After which she became employed at LCH Memorial Hospital, and later retiring from the Calcasieu Parish School Board. Her career entailed her doing what she loved most serving others.
She was preceded in death by her parents Reverend Hershey and Emma Miller Sr., sisters Thelma (Wilson) Victorian, Blanche Juanita Parker; brothers Roosevelt (Joyce Miller) Sr., and Nelson Miller; two sons Kevin Rickey Rougeau, and Calvin Lee Rougeau.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her husband, Melvin Rougeau of Lake Charles, Louisiana; four daughters, Bernadine Rougeau, of Ypsalanti MI., Debra (Edward) Stevens, of Houston, Mona Lisa (Eric) Doshier, and Rachel (Christopher) Carter, both of Lake Charles; two sons, Morris Wayne (Priscilla) Rougeau, of Lake Charles, Melvin Dwayne( Valencia) Rougeau, of Garland Texas, two sisters, Jennie (Edward) Rious of Lake Charles, Nancy (Frank) Jefferson of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Reverend Hershey (Gloria) Miller Jr., Houston, and Wilford Miller of Iowa. She also leaves 23 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, godchild Albert Lee Dugas, a host of relatives, friends, aunts, uncles, and the Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist church family to cherish her memories.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Service date: August 5, 2016
Mrs. Rougeau''s visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 5, at Combre Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, with funeral starting at 11 a.m. at Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church in Iowa Louisiana. The Rev. Herman Weston Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
