Dorothy Mae Duhon Sterling

Dorothy Mae Duhon Sterling was born on September 5, 1925, to Frank and Elnora Granger Duhon. Dorothy passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on October 29, 2024, at the age of 99. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, and devotion. She married Elliot Sterling, Sr., on July 30, 1946, and their marriage was the beginning of a lifelong commitment, one defined shared faith, and partnership. Together, Dorothy and Elliot built a life in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The love they shared became the foundation upon which they raised their three children: Elliot Jr., Shirley, and Cherron. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elliot Sterling Sr.; her parents, Frank and Elnora Duhon; and her siblings, Lillie, Vivian, Beatrice, Alfred, Edward, and Brady. Grandparents Frank and Julia Clooney Granger and Frank Duhon, Sr. and Francis Vincent Duhon.  Dorothy leaves behind a family rooted in love and rich with memories. Her life stands as a testament to resilience, hard work, and devotion, inspiring all who knew her. Dorothy is survived by her children, who lovingly cared for her with the same devotion she had always shown them. Her son, Elliot Sterling Jr. (Lake Charles, LA.); daughters Shirley Olivier (Kenneth) (Lawtell, LA) and Cherron Boutte (Peter) (New Iberia, LA.); and her grandchildren Sean Perrodin (Melanie) (Houston, Texas) , Shannon Handy (Robert) (Lake Charles, LA) , Corrin Pellarin (Arron)(Stockton, California), and Jamie Rankin Montero (Alberto)(Fremont, California), twelve great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren continue to carry forward the legacy of love and faith she nurtured.
