Edgar Mouton, Jr. was born on January 13, 1936, to the late Edgar and Ada (Hartman) Mouton, Sr. in Mossville, Louisiana. Bro. Edgar was the first born son of eight children. He was baptized as a young boy at Mount Zion Baptist Church by the late Rev. R.L. White. Except for a brief stay in California, he was a lifelong resident of Mossville.
On December 5, 1970, E.J., as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, was united in Holy Matrimony to Ressie Mae Watts. To this union, one son was born, Adrian Ben. Later, via adoption he became a father of four children born to his wife Ressie: Timothy, Katrina, Lauren and Tangela. To his first marriage with Elizabeth Ann Chatman in 1958 was born his first daughter: Lenna' Marie. During an interim relationship to Bobbie Jean Williams, a second daughter was born: Yolanda (Yogi) Williams. On June 7, 2012 God called Brother E.J. home, dispatching angels to escort him to his eternal resting place.
Preceding Bro. Edgar in death are his parents: Edgar and Ada (Hartman) Mouton Sr., and his oldest sister; Margaret Mouton Hubbard.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Ressie Mae Mouton of Sulphur, LA, four daughters; Lenna' Mouton of Pineville, LA, Yolanda Williams of Lake Charles, LA, Katrina Mouton and Tangela (Darren) Broussard, Sr. of Westlake, LA, three sons; Tim (Connie) Mouton of Lake Charles, LA, Lauren (Rebecca) Mouton of San Antonio and Adrian Ben Mouton of Sulphur, LA, one stepson; Mac David (Mary) Hathorn of Prentiss, MS, three sisters; Betty (Billy) Nickson of Beaumont, TX, Laura Bell Rigmaiden of Mossville, LA and Jackie Harris of San Antonio, TX, three brothers; Floyd (Betty) Mouton of Perris, CA, Donald (Mary) Mouton of Covington, GA, eighteen granchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
His funeral will be at 12 noon Saturday, June 16 in Mount Zion Baptist Church, Sulphur, LA. The Pastor Arthur Etienne will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home. Viewing 10:00 – 12:00 pm Saturday in the church.
