Edith Comeaux Stevens, 85, of Lake Charles, La. fulfilled her earthly purpose and gained her heavenly wings on July 11, 2018 in a local hospital with her family at her side . Mrs. Stevens is affectionately known to greet people with, "To blessed to be stressed" or "Wash you in the precious blood of Jesus." Edith was born in Eunice, La. on March 6, 1933 and lived the majority of her life in Lake Charles, La. and was a faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
She was proceeded in death by her Husband, Herman Stevens Sr.; Parents, Emile Comeaux and Mary Lubin; Father in Law Minor Stevens, Mother in Law Eva Toussaint Stevens; four sisters, Vernice Fontenot, Agnes Allison, Mary Stevens, and Dorothy Simon, two brothers, Bernie Manual and Ernest Simien. Great Great Grandson, Gabriel Aze' Nwachukwu; Great-Great Grandson, Javen Jackson and Great-Great Grand daughter, Avia Jackson.
Mrs. Stevens leaves to cherish all her many memories her five children, Barbara Leger (Winson), Herbert Stevens Sr. (Yvonne), Herman Stevens Jr. (Germaine), all of Lake Charles, La., Norman Stevens Sr. (Carolyn) of Houston, TX. and Cassandra Steward of Orlando, Fl. One sister, Edna Guillory of China, TX. Seventeen Grandchildren, Thirty Great Grandchildren, Two Great - Great Grandchildren and a host of Godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Stevens retired from Calcasieu Parish School Board after 25 years as a school bus driver.
Mrs. Stevens' life centered around being a witness for the Lord and was a prayer warrior, engaged in prison ministry, visiting the sick and home bound in their homes and the nursing homes. She was a member of the "Spiritual Rock Prayer Group" and dedicated her services to her IHMCC, especially the choir.
