Edward Hudson, a devoted family man, respected veteran, and beloved member of his community, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 18, 1944, to Willie and Martha Hudson.
Edward was a 1963 graduate of W. O. Boston High School. For more than 50 years, he was a
Dedicated and faithful member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, where he humbly served on the Usher Board.
A proud patriot, Edward joined the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of 1st Sergeant. Following his active service, he continued his military career with the National Guard. Between the Army and the National Guard, he devoted 30 years to serving his country with honor and distinction. Alongside his military service, Edward built a long and successful career at City-Con Refinery, where he worked in operations and faithfully retired after 30 years.
Edward’s commitment to service extended deeply into his community. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 551 for 51 years, where he held numerous leadership roles, including Deputy Vice Commander, Post Commander for 12 years, and 7th District Commander. He was also a lifelong member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7321 and served as past president of the Mayor's Armed Forces Commission and the Vietnam Veterans of America. His final position of service was as the 7th District Judge Advocate. He was also a Freemason at the Golden Chain Lodge #103.
Beyond his service, Edward was the founder of the Steppers Organization and was known for his joyful spirit and zest for life. He loved Zydeco music, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. With a warm smile and easy laugh, he never met a stranger. He enjoyed working with his hands, building projects, relaxing on his porch, and taking trips—whether on a cruise or to his favorite local casino.
Those left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy include his loving wife of 46 years, Susan Hudson; his children, Edward Hudson, Jr., Tracy Hudson (Marissa), and April Victorian; his sister, Rose Vital; six grandchildren, Johntrell J. Lewis, Costasia D. Victorian, Damarcus D. Ancrum, Kristina R. Hudson, Teri D. Hudson, and Markaria D. Tezeno; and six great-grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Martha Hudson; his sister, Lillian Fobbs; and his brothers, Willie Hudson, Jr., Caldwell Hudson, and LeRoy Hudson.
Edward Hudson lived a life defined by service, faith, and love—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
The visitation for Mr. Edward Hudson will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 9:00 A.M. with the funeral service following at 11:00 A.M. in Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. The interment will take place on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in with full Military Honors in Jennings, Louisiana
