Edward was born January 10, 1929 in Opelousas, Louisiana. He was the second to the youngest of eight born to Louis Gallien and Celestine Jean. Edward Gallien, Sr. met and married his wife Eleanor on January 24, 1948. After seven years they gave birth to their first of two sons. The eldest, Edward Gallien, Jr. and the youngest son Jules. After a stint in Texas the two moved to Lake Charles where Edward started working for Schlumberger Oilfied Company as a Machinist. Mr. Gallien retired from Schlumberger after over thirty years of service. He and his wife Eleanor also became involved with Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for over 40 years.

Edward was a devoted Catholic who was involved with the Parish for nearly 40 years. He was a member of the 3rd Degree, 4th Degree of the Knights of Peter Claver, and the Holy Name of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Edward spent and volunteered many, many hours to the church and school. He worked tirelessly for the Knights Organization as the Grand Knight for many years. He was the first to organize and head all facets when it came to helping others.

Edward departed this life on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at the age of eighty-six.

He was predeceased by his wife Mrs. Eleanor Gallien in November of 2013, father Louis Gallien, mother Celestine Jean; brothers Louis, Joseph, Calvin, and Leroy; sisters Virgie Fontonot, and Elizabeth Fontonot.

He leaves behind his two sons Edward Gallien, Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Jules Gallien (Konya) of Long Beach, Mississippi; three grandchildren Rekeisha Gallien of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Rekeia Gallien of Long Beach, Mississippi; and Edward Gallien, III of Lake Charles, Louisiana; brother Wilford Gallien, Sr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Service date: February 14, 2015

Visitation will be Friday from 6-9 p.m. Combre Funeral Home Chapel, Funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
