Elbert Earl Smith Jr. was born on June 27, 1962, in Fayetteville, N.C., to the late Elbert E. Smith Sr. and Jura Jolene Smith. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1979, serving 23 years as a decorated Iraqi War veteran.

Elbert was preceded in death by his father, Elbert E. Smith Sr., and sister, Vanessa Lorraine Smith.

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife, Martha Narcisse Smith, and five wonderful children, Ebony and Elisia Smith, Joseph Michael Foster of Durham, N.C., Jerrard Banks and Bernard Banksof Detroit, Mich.; his mother, Jura Jolene Smith of Fayetteville, N.C.; and four siblings, Darrell Smith of Fayetteville, N.C., Jennifer Smith Tapp of Chicago, Ill., Carmen Renee Smith and Valarie Smith, both of Lithonia, Ga.; his father and mother-in-law, Pete and Geraldine Narcisse of Lake Charles, La., along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

All services for Elbert Earl Smith Jr., will be Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at Combre Funeral Home, on 1200 Mill Street, Lake Charles, La. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with services immediately following at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
