Eleanor Elaine St. Mary

Eleanor Elaine Guillory St. Mary, affectionately known as Elaine, was born on October 25, 1944 to Leo Guillory and Clarice Andrepont Guillory in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Elaine peacefully transitioned to everlasting rest as God called her home on Thursday, February 1, 2018.

On February 4, 1961, Jerome and Eleanor Elaine Guillory celebrated the sacrament of marriage at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with family and friends witnessing the joyous occasion.  From this union, three children were born. On February 4, 2011, the family and friends gathered once again to celebrate the 50 th wedding anniversary of the couple.

At a young age, Elaine was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother and was actively involved in her church and community.  She was the first black woman hired by Calcasieu Marine National Bank and retired as a banking officer with nearly 30 years of service. She served on the National Selective Service Board for over 20 years, Calcasieu Women's Shelter Board, Doretha A. Combre National Association of Business & Professional Women Club, Inc., The Mayor's Commission for Women, Four Seasons Garden Club of North Lake Charles, Board Member for Bayou Comprehensive Medical Center which is now the SWLA Center for Health Services, Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court 141, Christian Mothers, Board member for St. Louis Catholic High School and Immaculate Heart of Mary School. She served in various leadership roles at IHM School and Church throughout her life.

Elaine was proud to be a Notary Public and served many people in the community with Notary services. She made herself available at any time day or night and offered free services to those that were in need.

One of her proudest accomplishments was receiving the National Conference of Christians and Jews Brotherhood Award for her outstanding service to the Lake Charles community.

Despite all her personal accomplishments, she was most proud of her children and grandchildren which she instilled the values of education, family, and faith in God.

In her spare time, she loved traveling, shopping, sewing, floral designing, interior decorating, cake decorating, and spending time with her family.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Joseph Guillory and Peter Guillory, Sr.

Survivors are her children Jennifer St. Mary Bellow and Hilton Bellow, Lisa St. Mary Carthon and Rickey Carthon, and Joseph Jerome St. Mary, Jr. and Shaalom St. Mary. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Clarice Elaine Carthon, Jared Heath Bellow, Richard Donovan Carthon, Nicholas Joseph St. Mary, Jacob Jerome St. Mary, and Ethan James St. Mary, sisters, Marjorie Talbert, Audrey Duplechain, Jeanette (Billy) Creighton, brothers, Julius (Barbara) Guillory, John Guillory, and a host of devoted family, friends, and neighbors.
