Elizabeth Spencer Richard devoted mother, wife, sister, and daughter departed this life on March 3, 2017. She was born March 6, 1932 to Alfred and Daisy Spencer in Westlake, La. She was the third daughter of six children.
Elizabeth spent her childhood years in Westlake, La. She attended school in Westlake, Sacred Heart in Lake Charles, La and graduated from Holy Rosary Institute a college preparatory school in Lafayette, La 1951. Following high school she attended Grambling University. She met her husband Louis C. Richard and married 1955 while at Grambling she earned a Bachelor of Science and a Teacher Certificate. Following marriage and graduation she began her career as an educator in Vinton, La and later in Lake Charles she retired after thirty years as an educator. She was a very active member at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where she served as a member of Knights of Peter Clever, Ladies Auxiliary, Christian Mothers, Grand Lady and Vice Grand Lady for a number of years. She was Lay Minister of Communion for IHM and St. Patrick Hospital for eighteen years. She was an active member of St. Patrick Hospital. She was a member of the National Associations of University Women Lake Charles Branch, was Woman of the Year 1994-1995. She is Survived by three children Catherine Ann Riggins, Louis Joseph, and Vanessa Drake (Houston) grandchildren Stephen Louis and Christopher James Riggins, Andre' Colston, Michelle Elizabeth Richard, and Wilson Joseph Washington, Brittney and Chasity Drake. One great grandchild Darian. One sister Maxie M. Titus (Houston), brother James Spencer (Las Vegas). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis C. Richard, sisters Juanita Rodriquez, Mary Louise Joe and brother Marshall Spencer.
