Ella Mae "Big Lady" Celestine-Dicks, 88, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at a local hospital.
Mrs. Dicks was born Dec. 8, 1928, in Chataignier, La. She was a retired school bus drive, Gulf Assistance Program - Head Start & Wonderland of Play School. She was also a member of Immaculate of Mary Catholic Church, Lake Charles; Christian Mothers and Adult Choir, for many years until her health declined.
Mrs. Dicks was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Sr. & Amay Celestine; Brother, Lee Celestine, Jr.; Her life-long husband of 46 years, Lawrence Dicks Sr.; Sons, Jimmy, Lawrence Jr., and Christopher Paul Dicks.
Those left to cherish her memory are sisters, Rose Wiley of Channelview, Texas, Ruthhella Thomas of Cheeks, Texas, Jeanella (Elgin) Guillory, Carolyn (Paul) Thomas and Eva (John) Coutee of Eunice, La.; Brothers, Lee Andrus and LeRoy (Rosemary) Celestine of Cheeks, Texas, Lloyd and Floyd Johnson of Eunice, La.; daughters, Helen (Curtis) Rougeau of Eunice, La., Freda Faye Dicks, Priscilla Hursey; Patrick (Mary) Floyd, Steven and Stanley of Lake Charles, La.; 27 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
