Elrine was born on January 12, 1930 to the late Leopold and Alice Bellard Thibodeaux in Lawtell Louisiana. She was married to the late Paul Hanney and of this union six children were born. Elrine was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and also a long standing member of the Christian Mothers. She was a compassionate person who possessed a beautiful caring spirit. She was a homemaker and an excellent cook who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Elrine was well known for her delicious Boudin and pies. She was affectionately known to all of her nieces and nephews as "Aunt Yen". She was truly a beautiful woman inside and out.
Elrine Thibodeaux Hanney, 87, of Lake Charles, Louisiana went home to meet her heavenly father on Saturday, April 8, 2017. She was surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by six children. Sons; Charles (Gwen) Hanney, Terry Hanney and Gary Hanney, all of Lake Charles, and James (Jackie) Hanney of Missouri City, Texas and daughters; Barbara Hanney Richardson and Jennifer Hanney of Lake Charles. Her two surviving sisters are Catherine Wilson and Florence Green of Lake Charles. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leopold and Alice Bellard Thibodeaux, her loving and devoted husband, Paul Hanney and two brothers; Alex Thibodeaux and Rufus Thibodeaux. Also five sisters, Lillian Henney, Estella Lavergne, Isabella Carter, Ella Mae Francis and Lou Wilda Bellard.
