Ernestine Nero, 99, died on May 7, 2015, in her residence.

She was born on May 4, 2015, in Church Point, La., to Lucien and Edmonia Citizen. She later moved to Lake Charles, La., in 1960. She was a nurturing person filled with wisdom and to anyone she came in contact with, she was a positive influence in there lives. She enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid gardener, but most of all she loved the Lord, which she instilled in her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Windie Nero; and son, Rayfirld (Cynthia) Nero of Lake Charles, La. She will be greatly missed by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucien and Edmonia Bellard Citizen; her husband, Elias Nero; three daughters, Bertrella handy, Relma Clayton and Isabella Alex; and two sons, Evers Handy and John Nero; three brothers, Lucien Citizen Jr., Wilson Citizen and Eddie Citizen; and 10 sisters, Lillian Moore, Amelia Johnson, Hazel Citizen, Irma Babineaux, Adlene Sonnier, Mable Guidry, Henrietta Davis, Elma Levy, Elder Crawford and Isabella Bias.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 16, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. in Combre Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Roland E. Mouton Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
