Essie S. Hampton 84, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 7th, after a brief illness. Essie was born in Gibsland, Louisiana to loving parents, Albert and Jessie F. Shyne. Essie graduated from Coleman High School on May 26th, 1950. Essie married her husband, Leon Hampton in January of that year.
Essie has been a resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana for all of her adult life and was employed by Pryce''s Pharmacy until she retired in January, 2008 after 35 years of service.
Essie leaves behind her loving husband of 63 years, Leon Hampton, her only child and son, Leo Hampton and his wife Debbie, her 4 grandchildren, Leon Hampton II, Justin Hampton, Bryan Hampton, and Elyse Hampton, along with 5 great-grandchildren and a host of Nieces and Nephews.
Essie is also survived by her Brothers; John A Shine of Muskegon, Mi., Leonard Shyne of Hesperia, Ca. and Sister; Thelma Tolliver of Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Albert and Jesse F. Shine, three Sisters, Jesse Lee Burns-Hampton, Lillie Candler, Lizzie Volrie, and one brother, Albert Shine II
Essie''s life celebration will be Saturday morning, October 12th at 11:00AM with viewing from 9:00-11:00AM at Reeves CME Temple, 1400 Winterhalter Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The interment will be held immediately following the celebration at the Church cemetery.
