Obituary

Florence Savoy (Aunt Black) was born September 28, 1939, in Lawtell, Louisiana to Dave and Clemence (Lavergne) Henderson.  Florence was the sixth child of nine children.  Whitney, Wallace, Shirley, Orell, twin brother Floyd, Lawrence and Mathew.  Florence later gave birth to a daughter Laurie Ann.  In 1963 she married Sidney Savoy, Sr. and lived as a devoted and loving wife for 44 years.  To this marriage a son was born Sidney Savoy, Jr.

Florence was a devoted, loving housewife, a faithful grandmother and great grandmother, sibling, cousin and friend.  She loved family more than anything.  She passed away Wednesday morning after a long battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers; Whitney, Wallace and Mathew Henderson and one sister Mary Bellard.

Those left to cherish her memories are three brothers; Lawrence (Ruby) Henderson of Lafayette, Louisiana, Orell (Willa Mae) Henderson and Twin brother Floyd Henderson of Houston, Texas; one sister Shirley Frank of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two children Laurie (Larry Thibodeaux and Sidney (Estefanie) Savoy, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Korecia (Charles) Johnson, Larry (Keisha) Thibodeaux, Jr., Shamekia and twin brother Sherron Thibodeaux, John Savoy, Scarlette Savoy, Ahmeer Savoy and Aurrora Savoy, all of Lake Charles, Louisiana.  Seven great grandchildren, Javon, Kaysha, Larry, III., Jordon, Jabari, Omari and Karen.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She will be truly missed by all for her laughter, her spirit, her friendliness and most of all; her love for cooking.
