In search of the Heavenly home he long and passionately sought, Frank W. Thomas departed this life Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, in the comfort of his home in Lake Charles, La.
Frank W. Thomas was bornApril 11, 1921, in Washington, La., to Beatrice Green and Frank W. Thomas. He was raised in Welsh, La., until he began serving duty in the Air Force from Sept. 8, 1942, until Dec. 20, 1945.
FrankW. Thomas served during World War II as a marksman. In 1946, he married Mildred Carrier, and they settled in Lake Charles, La.
FrankW. Thomas was a founding member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lake Charles, La., and served as a 4th-degree knight with the Knights of St. Peter Claver Council #141.
FrankW. Thomas was a brick mason for over 50 years. Frank was a spiritual, charismatic man with a passion for the Lord. He was a devoted family man and an outstanding citizen in the community. Frank always kept family first.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice Green and Frank W. Thomas; wife, Mildred Thomas; infant daughter, Pamela Thomas; and son, L.C. Thomas.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Mary (Horace) Hollier of Sun City, La., and Alice (Gene) Hardemion of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughters, Frankie (David) Sweet of Marrietta, Ga., Maxine (Kenneth) Case of Lake Charles, La., Janel (Larry) Todd of Atlanta, Ga., Renee (Walter) Lee of Stone Mountain, Ga.; sons, Ted (Stacey) Thomas of Lake Charles, La., Dexter (April) Thomas of Mandeville, La.; grandchildren, Davilyn Tabb of Marietta, Ga., Damian Sweet of Miami, Fla., Pharaia Mitchell of Atlanta, Ga., Tiffany Leger of Lake Charles, La., Elcee DeLaune Thomas of Lake Charles, La., Jamiel Williams of Atlanta, Ga., and Kennedie and Dominick Thomas ofMandeville, La.; 13 greatgrandchildren; one greatgreat-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Service date: Sept. 13, 2014
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, in Combre Funeral Home in Lake Charles, La., from 6 to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lake Charles, La. Interment service will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lake Charles, La., under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
