"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be
mourning nor crying, nor anymore pain, for the former things have passed away . " -Revelation 21:4.

On January 29,1947, in Sulphur, Louisiana my journey began with a new life. I was born to the union of
the late Johnny and Rosa Lee Porter.

He was baptized by the late Rev. W. M. Miller at the Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Sulphur, Louisiana.
In 1969, I moved my membership to the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev.
Harvey Lawson. While on my tenure at Mt. Pilgrim, I actively served until the Lord called me home to
eternal rest.

I reaped a good harvest of blessings from the Lord. He blessed me with three sons and grandchildren to
enjoy.

On Monday, May 22, 2017, I left this life and entered into eternal glory. God in His infinite wisdom has
seen fit to call me from your midst. Bow in humble submission to His will and pause to reflect on my
life. My death should give you cause to think .... "not so much upon the meaning of death as upon the
meaning of life-one life, a little gleam of time between two eternities."

Mourning my departure yet cherishing and honoring fond memories of me are my three sons: Kevin
Porter & mother Rose L. Porter; Timothy and Kendrick Porter & mother Betty Porter; two sisters,
Johnnie Mae Tezeno and Rose Marie Vincent (Lorenza) all of Lake Charles, LA; one brother, Bennie
Porter (Jackie) of Sulphur, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

I am now united with my parents, Johnny and Rosa Lee Porter; three sisters, Flora Bell Rayon, Mary Bell
Prescott and Paula Ann Roberts; two brothers, Sammy Sprout and Billie Ryan-all who went to glory
before me. I am resting peacefully and will receive my crown in Heaven.
