Obituary
Sister Gennie B. Williams
On Thursday, July 2, 2026, God, in His infinite wisdom, called His faithful servant, Sister Gennie B. Williams, from labor to reward. Having lived a life marked by faith, love, compassion, and service, she peacefully entered into eternal rest in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
Sister Gennie B. Williams was born on January 2, 1930, in Urbana, Arkansas, to the late William B. Crawford and Alemon Davis Crawford. She was raised with strong Christian values that remained the foundation of her life.
In 1955, she united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Andrew “Bott” Williams. Together they built a loving home, raised their family, and shared many years of love, faith, and devotion.
Sister Williams was a faithful, lifelong member of Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist church in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She faithfully served wherever she was needed, spending countless hours working in the church kitchen and assisting with the church’s clothing ministry. She found great joy in serving others, and her quiet acts of kindness reflected the love of Christ.
She also dedicated many years of compassionate service in the healthcare profession before retiring from Green Acres Nursing Home, where she faithfully cared for countless individuals with dignity, patience, and love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andrew “Bott” Williams; her parents, William B. Crawford and Alemon Davis Crawford; her brother, Martin Crawford; and her niece, Annie Ree King.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory six sons: Carlton L. Williams of Houston, Texas; Richard D. (Margee) Williams of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Michael T. (Ursula) Williams, Brian K. Williams, and Mark A. Williams, and Melvin G. Smith, all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; three daughters; Denise D. Williams of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Valorie Denton Victorian of Lafayette, Louisiana and Vicki S. (Dwayne) Guy of Westlake, Louisiana. She also leaves her favorite niece, Cheryl (Billy) Smith of Memphis, Tennessee, 20 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
Sister Gennie B. Williams will be remembered for her unwavering faith, humble spirit, generous heart, and steadfast commitment to her family, her church and her community. Her life was a beautiful testimony of God’s grace, and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Though she is absent from the body, she is present with the Lord. Her legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to inspire generations to come.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant…enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
