Master Chief Petty Officer George Wayne Jackson III, United States Navy (Retired), passed away peacefully
on August 15, 2021, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was 79 years old. George was a decorated veter-
an who served both the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm and dedicated 31 years of service to the
United States Navy, rising to the highest rank of an Enlisted man during his decorated military career.
George was born on April 26, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Myrtle Hartman Williams and George
Jackson, Jr. He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 20 and was last stationed in Mayport, Florida
in May 1993. George received numerous medals and commendations during his service, including the Navy
Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Awards, Vietnam Service Medal
with two Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service
Medal.
After serving in Vietnam George spent time stationed in various location: around the country and abroad.
During his time in Washington, D.C. he met Helene Moses, and they were married on his birthday in
2000. George and Helene settled in Lake Charles Louisiana to raise their two children, Jocelyn and Adrian.
After his retirement from the Navy and his move to Lake Charles George began working at the Calcasieu
Parish Sheriff's Department as a Deputy. He remained with the Department for 12 years until a tragic acci-
dent left him paralyzed.
George was a member of the New Sunlight Baptist Church, Corner Stone Masonic Lodge #229, and Road
Brothers Social Club.
George was preceded in death by his parents Myrtle Hartman Williams and George Jackson, Jr., stepfather,
Neil Williams; and his siblings, Gerard Jackson, Jeraline Clark-Henry, Jimmy Jackson, and Michael Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Helene M. Jackson; daughters, Jocelyn Jackson (Derrick
Ruffin) of Montgomery, Alabama, Kameha N. Jackson-Crespo (Michael) of Goodyear, Arizona, and
Kirmesha Jackson of Newport News, Virginia; sons, Adrian Deschamp (Renada) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana,
and Dr. Windell L. Hutchinson (Barbara) of Boonsboro, Maryland; brother, Charles Jackson of Lake
Charles, Louisiana; sisters, Evelyn Bellard of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Rosemary Qualls of Houston, Texas,
and Ruthevelyn Jackson Valentine of Newellton, Louisiana; in-laws, Carrie B. Green (Bill) and Ruben (Lisa)
Moses of Clinton, Maryland, Minister Otis Moses (Deborah) of Suitland, Maryland, Patricia Marks of Heath
Springs, South Carolina, Kathy Witherspoon (Dwight) of Lancaster, South Carolina, Gunzo Moses (Gloria),
Jerry L. Moses (Lorraine), Deborah Elaine Brown (joe) all of Heath Springs, South Carolina, Roger
Emmanuel Moses (Tina) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Marie Anita King of Lancaster, South Carolina;
grandchildren, Destiny Hutchinson, Kennedy Deschamp, Kameran Crespo, Kristichan Crespo, Braxton
Deschamp, Zoe Ruffin, Adriana Jackson, Lincoln Deschamp, Aiden Ruffin, and Dallas Ruffin; godchildren,
Sherelle Anderson and Trinity Slaughter; daughter in heart, Trudy (Kellen) Wright, and a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends.
