George Leger was born November 22, 1933 to Theodore Leger and Margaret Guilbeau Leger in Lawtell, Louisiana. On Sunday, November 24, 2019, God came and took George's hand and said it is time to rest, your home is waiting for you in Heaven.
George was a caring man. He cared about the welfare of others. He loved his children, grandchildren and family. George accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, Louisiana before moving to Lake Charles and becoming a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church.
He was employed and retired from the Calcasieu Parish School System as a bus driver. On September 19, 1953, he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Jolivette Leger, and this year would have been married sixty-seven years. To this union four children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Margaret Leger; wife, Mary Ann Leger; son, Jerome Leger; daughter-in-law, Melinda; infant daughter, Lillian Faith; sister, Dorothy Thibodeaux and brother, Auriel Leger.
Left to treasure his memories are his daughter, Joyce Fontenot; and son, Ray Anthony Leger, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; brother, Retell Leger and two sisters, Audrey Cormier and Heilda Andrepont all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Leslie Jordan, Joshua Fontenot, Lindsey Lavergne, Jackie Richard, Eric Leger, Ashley Leger, and Dustin Leger; and ten great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
