Obituary

George "Johnny" Walker, Jr. was born on July 22, 1939 in Elizabeth, Louisiana to his late parents George Walker, Sr. and Marie Solomon.

Johnny and his family moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana at an early age. He attended Boston High School and entered into the United States Army in his late teenage years. He was honorably discharged after serving several years.

He met the love of his life Theresa Miller and later they were joined in holy matrimony for 54 years. From this union came a beautiful daughter who they named Shelia Reneé.

Johnny and Theresa relocated to Oakland, California where they spent over 40 years. He worked at the Oakland Army Base, and later owned and operated Walker''s Painting Company. After retirement, they returned back home to Lake Charles, Louisiana in 2005.

Johnny said "Do not say a whole lot about me, may the life I lived speak for itself".

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Johnny passed away peacefully at home with his family and friends at his bedside.

Johnny is preceded in death by his father George Walker, Sr., his beloved mother Marie Richard, three brothers Van Walker, Sr., Jimmy Lee Delafosse and Edward Walker.

Cherishing his memories are his loving wife Theresa Walker of Lake Charles, Louisiana; his daughter Shelia Reneé Walker of Emeryville, California; and his loving god granddaughter Kendriya R. Powell of San Leandro, California; three sisters Margaret Blake, Dolores (McKenneth) Edwards both of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Lynda Barnes of Las Vegas, Nevada; one aunt Sylvia White of San Bernadino, California; in-laws Mildred Walker of New Orleans, Louisiana; Mae (Charles) Rawl of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Edward (Beverly) Miller, Sr. of Midwest, Oklahoma and Clarence (Betty) Miller of Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Service date: April 13, 2013

Services will be at 10 am, April 13th in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, April 13th from 8 am to 9:45 in Combre Funeral Home Chapel.
