Her Story, God’s Glory

I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness. – 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Georgianna LeBlanc, one of three beautiful daughters born to Edward Bass and Odessa Syas LeBlanc, entered this world on October 18, 1942, a precious gift from God. She grew up surrounded by the love of her parents and siblings, forming bonds that would shape her heart and her character.

At an early age, Georgianna accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, a decision that became the foundation of her life. Her walk with Christ was nurtured under the spiritual leadership of Dr. W. C. Clark and pastors, the late Reverend Al. G. Stevens, Abbie Monroe, Jr., and her current Pastor/Teacher, Reverend Edward Alexander, Jr, whom she loved dearly. Her faith was not merely professed; it was lived with grace, humility, and unwavering devotion.

She received her education at W. O. Boston High School, and at the tender age of 18, on July 22, 1961, she united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Allen James Bilbo, in the home of her grandparents, Crawford and Stella Syas. Their union blossomed into a remarkable love story; a tapestry woven with friendship, commitment, and enduring affection. For sixty‑four beautiful years, just thirty‑four days short of sixty‑five, they walked hand in hand through life’s joys and trials, building a home anchored in faith, respect, and family. Their marriage stood as a living testament to God’s design for love.

To this union, five children were born: Lorraine, James Allen (who transitioned as an infant), Odessa, Florence, and Allen Jr. God also entrusted them with their niece, Maurine, who joined the family at an early age and was raised as their own. Within the walls of her home, Georgianna was the heartbeat, the “Heart of the Home.” She cared for her family with passion, tenderness, and a joyful spirit. Her laughter filled every room, her jokes brought light to every gathering, and her famous “love pinches” became a signature expression of affection that her family will forever remember.

Her service to God extended far beyond her home. From a young age, she faithfully attended associations, state and national conventions, and poured her gifts into the Hospitality Ministry and the Senior Sisters Fellowship. Her greatest joy in service was found on the Senior Usher Board, where she served with dignity, compassion, and excellence for more than fifty -five years, most recently as Vice-President. Her presence at the church doors was a ministry all its own, a warm welcome, a gentle smile, and a spirit of grace that touched countless lives.

Georgianna was preceded in death by her parents, Edward(Odessa) LeBlanc; her infant son, James Bilbo;

Grandparents: Crawford (Stella) Syas and Henry (Louisiana) Hebert; her sister, Florence (Anthony Sr.) Fontenot; brother, Terrell LeBlanc; her mother and father‑in‑love, Lymon and Mattie Bilbo, uncles, Crawford, Raymond and Tommy Syas; godchild, Valentina Pitre.

Left to honor her legacy of love is her devoted husband of sixty‑four years, Allen James Bilbo, Sr.; her beloved children: Lorraine (Tommy Sr.) Thomas, Odessa (Brian) Kirkwood, Florence Bilbo, Allen (Deanna) Bilbo, and her niece raised as a daughter, Maurine Johnson; her sister, Dorothy Chavis (Joshua Senegal) and her sister in love, Gustavia Richard.

Among her greatest joys were her grandchildren, each one blessed by the faith, laughter, and unconditional love she poured into their lives: Allen Sr. (Tasha), Desmond, Laramick, Alexis, Brittani, Quintessa, Ronald Sr. (Veronica), Jeremy (fiancée Ambria Thomas), Johnessa (fiancé Melvin Moore), Terriana, Brianna, Johnathan, Edriena , and Victoria; blessed with a growing circle of great‑grandchildren, she embraced each one as a precious gift from God: Kiara, Allen, Deonte’, Justice, Makeda, Khalil, Laramick, Tamyla, Sirvantes, Alliance, Mazikeen, Malaya, Malik (who is lovingly raised in the home of his grandparents), Bryleigh, Ronald (RJ), Reese, Brielle, Melvin, Baby Thomas (arriving September 2026), and Baby Moore (arriving November 2026); her great‑great‑grandchildren were the shining jewels of her legacy: Kaysen, Maze, Kysaac, Koazyn, and Anova; She also cherished her godchildren, whom she embraced with a mother’s heart: Tyrone Ceasar, Carrisa Caesar, Kenyetta Winters, and Hope Toussain Valentina Pitre and Jessic Jackson; among the many lives she enriched were those of her beloved nieces and nephews, whom she treated as her own children. She was more than an aunt she was strength, laughter, and unconditional love. She leaves behind numerous cousins, relatives, and friends who were blessed by her presence. Georgianna’s life was a beautiful offering, a melody of faith, service, laughter, and love. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her, and her memory will forever shine as a testament to a life well lived and a love well given.

Her story was written in love, her life was anchored in faith, and her journey ended in victory. Having finished her earthly race, she now rests in the presence of the One she loved and served.
