Gerald Michael Batiste, Sr was born on September 1, 1955 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was the 5th child born to the union of Frank Calvin Batiste and Alice Green. Gerald     graduated from W.O. Boston High School and attended Grambling State University. After attending Grambling, Gerald joined the U.S. Army. During this time he married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Starland.

Gerald was a devoted husband and father.  He loved his family dearly. Gerald was a fantastic cook. His family and friends feasted many times on his delicious meals! Gerald had a great sense of humor and was always smiling and joking. He never met a stranger. Gerald was friendly, kind and down to earth. He was a fabulous dancer and the "life of the party".     Gerald was also very athletic, excelling in basketball, swimming and diving.

Gerald's children, Kimberly and Gerald, Jr were his pride and joy. He was an assistant scout leader and a hard-working parent of Sacred Heart School's booster organization. Gerald was always very supportive of his children's academic and athletic endeavors. His four        grandchildren, Monte'Ja, Harmony, Kamryn, Landon and stepdaughter, Taylor were      showered with love, attention and devotion from their beloved pawpaw and stepdad. Gerald's nieces, nephews, siblings, and other family members were also recipients of his   wisdom, wit, humor, charity, strength and generosity.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Pam.

He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Kimberly Batiste; son, Gerald Batiste Jr.; grandchildren, Monte'Ja, Harmony, Kamryn and Landon Batiste; stepdaughter, Taylor Guidry, fiancé', Dawanna Guidry; three sisters, Gaynell (Joe) Carrier, Barbara Batiste, and Brenda Batiste; four brothers, Frank D. Batiste, Donald (Bernadine) Batiste, Sr., Anthony (Marcella) Batiste, Sr., and Kenneth (Valerie) Batiste, Sr; one aunt, Annie Mae Booker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
