Gerald Wayne Jones was born July 25, 1952, to the late Huey Paul Jones and Ella Mae Simpson Jones in Tacoma, Washington. He was the third of five children. Most of his life was spent between Lake Charles, Louisiana and Tacoma, Washington. Gerald was a man of God and lived his life that way from a very early age.
Gerald was a graduate of Mercer Island High School in Mercer Island, Washington. He spent time with his dad and siblings while in Washington. He was a proud member of the U.S. Coast Guard and enjoyed his time in the service and stayed until he was discharged due to medical reasons. Gerald returned to Lake Charles, Louisiana and became an Operator at Conoco Phillips and was employed there for over twenty-five years until he retired.
In March 1992, he married Tammy Marie Jones, the love of his life. They resided in Lake Charles with their two daughters. He was a member of Woodbury United Church of Fellowship in Lake Charles, Louisiana under the pastorship of Reverend Larry Tutson, Jr. Gerald Wayne and Tammy both joined Woodbury and he served on the music ministry. He was even honored as Man of the Year.
His hobbies were fishing, and he was a member of the Big Cypress Bass Club. He also was a member of a bowling league and a certified bowling coach.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Huey and Ella Jones; two sisters, Alosia Sterling and Bernadette Russell; father-in-law, McKinley Jones; one sister-in-law, Dawn Jackson Jones; and one brother-in-law, Brian Fox.
Mourning his departure is his loving wife, Tammy Marie Jones. His two daughters, Lanay Jones Griffin (Danny) and Christina Carmen LeMelle (Anthony) both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Jaylssa (Christopher) of Lubbock, Texas, Krystle, Shannon, Jr., Danny Jr., Luna, and one on the way all of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Two
great-grandchildren, Peyton Chanel Taylor of Lubbock, Texas and Kyron Zane Ware of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Two brothers, Michael R. Jones (Betty) of Jacksonville, Florida Ronald L. Jones of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Five sisters, Paula J. Kaough of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Denise Russell-Shelton (Barry) of Federal Way, Washington,
Paulette Williams (Orrys) of Tacoma, Washington; Veronica Fox of West Linn, Oregon, Karla Parrish (Chris) of Wilsonville, Oregon. Mother-in-law, Eva C. Jones; three brothers- in-law, Terry Jones, Sr., and Arthur Sterling, III all of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Dwight David Jones (Brenda) of Houston, Texas. Two aunts, Sarah Williams of Port Arthur, Texas and Rita Simpson of Houston, Texas. One uncle, Lawrence Simpson (Louanna) of Eunice, Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
