Geraldine Ann Lewis

Geraldine Ann Lewis, a woman who embraced life and cherished connections, was born on January 15, 1944, in Westlake, Louisiana. She was the beloved daughter of the late Louis Joseph Guidry and the Late Maria Carrier Guidry. Gerry's life journey led her to marriage with Nelson Lewis, and together they welcomed their daughter, Bridgett E. Lewis. For over four decades, Gerry dedicated herself to her work as a Dietary Aide at Daniel Freeman Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Gerry possessed a genuine love for people and a naturally sociable spirit. She found joy in simple pleasures, particularly sitting outdoors, where she could immerse herself in zydeco music's vibrant rhythms and melodies, often singing along. A devoted fan, she enthusiastically cheered on her favorite basketball team, the Los Angeles Lakers, from the comfort of her home. Her early education occurred at Mossville Elementary and Westlake High School, where she completed the 11th grade before venturing to California. Though she spent many years in Los Angeles, Louisiana always held a special place in her heart, and she eventually returned to her roots until her passing. On April 10, 2025, Gerry was carried from her earthly home to her heavenly home surrounded by her loved ones. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, George Guidry; her sister, Thelma Marie Thierry; and her daughter, Bridgette Lewis. Her siblings will lovingly cherish her memory: Mary Guidry of Westlake, Louisiana, Jimmy (Marie) Guidry of Iowa, Louisiana, Evelyn Sam of Houston, Texas, Emelida (Hilman) Chavis and Anita (Richard Coleman), Margaret (Walter) Johnson, and Gustavia Ramsey all of Lake Charles, Louisiana. She also leaves behind a host of dear nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
