Obituary

Geraldine Evans Miller, 63, passed away on December 9, 2016. She was born on February 18, 1953 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the late Lee Gilbert Evans, Sr. and Lillie Charles Evans. She departed her life''s journey on December 9, 2016 in Houston, Texas.

She was married to James Miller for 32 years, and from this union one daughter was born, Eumeka T. Miller Cormier. She resided most of her life in Baton Rouge, Louisiana before moving to Houston, Texas.

Geraldine was baptized at an early age at Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Horace Allison. While in Baton Rouge, she was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Leo Cyrus and First Emannuel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Charles J. Southall, III. After moving to Houston, she became a member of Fallbrook Church, under the leadership of Rev. Michael Pender. At each church, she was an active member of the Usher Ministry.

She loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.

Gerrie worked for 26 years at Frensenius Medical Care as a Medical Billing Clerk, 4 years at LSU Health Services as a Billing Specialist, and 3 years at Weatherford/Lubrizol as an Administrative Assistant.She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Kailey Melissa Cormier.

Mourning her departure, yet cherishing memories of her life are her daughter, Eumeka Miller (Craig Sr.) Cormier of Baytown, Texas; three grandchildren, Kyler Miller and Craig II of Baytown, Texas and Ashley Jackson of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two brothers, Lin (Ursula) Evans of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Lee (Gail) Evans of Scott, Louisiana; two sisters, Wanda (Warren) Augustine of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Christina (Lawrence) Allison of Eunice, Louisiana; Special Cousins, Veronica Washington, Joan Banks, Dorothy Peters, and Yvette Pete; Godmother, Juanita Celestine; four Godchildren, Kereith White, Steven Bilbo, Tremaine Abraham and Sierra Glasper, whom she had a special bond with; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Her funeral will be 2:00PM, Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 300 N. Blake Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Rev. Elmore Garner will officiate. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the Direction of Combre Funeral Home. Visitation is from 12:00 Noon to 2:00PM at the church.

Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the Direction of Combre Funeral Home. Visitation is from 12:00 Noon to 2:00PM at the church.
