Gertie (Gammy) Mae Tyler
Passed in peace on Sat., Dec. 29, 2018 at the age of 96
years old in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was
preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Archie Tyler.
Gammy was a loving Mother of 1 son Charles L. Jackson. Proud
grandmother to 5 granddaughters, 3 of whom she raised, Lavonda
Jackson-Malbrough (Norman), Tiwatha Jackson-Reynolds (Brett),
SaCorra Jackson-Ned (Jerry), Brandi Jackson-Hilts (Isaiah),and
Jada Jackson-Bolden (Devone). Great grandmother to grandkids
Tijanay Jackson, Josiah Jackson I, Nija Jackson, Jerry L Ned "I,
Nijwa Ned, Tradarius Jackson, Alexia Demouchet, Isaiah Hilts Jr,
Eric Malbrough Jr, Jackson Hilts, Landen Malbrough, & McKenzi
Hilts. She was further survived by 7 Great-great Grandchildren that
she was blessed to have loved, her Daughter in Law Eva Guillory, a
host of family, friends and caretakers to also include her dear
friend/caretaker Patsy Reeder.
A native of Louisiana, she was born in Opelousas LA, and
lived the majority of her adult life in Lake Charles, LA. She was a
very strong independent woman who did not take or make excuses.
She rode the City bus everywhere she had to up until her later years
in life. She was an exemplary role model to her grandchildren, as
we" as many others whom lives she was a part of. She took pride in
taking care of her family, by showing them unconditional love. She
would host holiday gatherings at her home, starting traditions that
would be carried on for further generations to come.
Gertie Tyler was a we" known and respected Pilar of the
community in which she lived for 70+ years. She was known for
having the most immaculate home and yard in the neighborhood.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age.
She served here at Evergreen Baptist church, located at 646 Franklin
St. Lake Charles, LA, where she was a faithful member and church
participant. She served as an usher, a member of the Deaconess
Board and also the choir.
